RMS "Titanic"

CQD S.O.S. de MGY

A century from the bigest disaster in the naval history. On 15 april we are remembering 100 years since the sinking of Titanic. The ship was supposed to be noted for its size, speed and luxury accomodation but became a legend because of its sinking. RMS Titanic struck an iceberg on 14th April 1912 and sank into the dark frozen waters of the North Atlantic in the early hours of the following morning.

Titanic's exact Morse code transmission in that cold night was, CQD CQD SOS SOS CQD DE MGY MGY.
MGY was the callsign of the ship and the code for emergency was CQD but for the first time in history they transmit also SOS - Save Our Souls the signal who became a mark since then.
To mark 100 years since the Titanic incident a lot of radio amateurs special callsigns will operate all over the world in all bands and modes.

the Radio room

A special broadcast on longwave 147,3 kHz & amateur crossband event take place from 14th april 22:30 UTC to 15th april 02:00 UTC. A special transmission in morsecode only on LW - 147.3 Khz from NWS transmitter DDH47. It was used crossband LW - Tx and Hf 7 & 3.5 Mhz Rx for contacting hamradio stations.

SDR - DDH47
Despite all versions and theories, i think the real reason for Titanic sinking is "defiance". Remember the spirit of that time and the "pride" without limits; on that not even God can sink it!
